Poem: Mothers Day

You remind me of all the hurt,

more than any other day.

You're darkness in disguise,

a bitch with nothing to say.

.

You sneak up on me,

branding yourself a day of love.

But all you do is remind me,

that my mum is up above.

.

With hearts strung around your neck,

and fake flowers in your hair.

You sail in with soulless Facebook posts,

pretending that you care.

.

A figment of imagination,

you're a corporate scam designed to take.

If I could, I'd tie breezeblocks to your feet,

AND DROWN YOU IN THE LAKE.

.

Poem by Donna Gilliard, 1st March 2024.
